Modernized Text

Oh Lord, my rock when unto thee I cry,
Be not then silent, not regarding it!
Oh let me hear thy voice betimes lest I
Like them become that fall into the pit!
Hear then my plaints which I send up to thee
When in thy house my hands uplifted be.

Let not that crew m'into their ways entice,
And him that worketh evil keep me from.
From such as mischief in their hearts devise,
Which there lies hid when peace comes from their tongues,
Reward them, Lord, as they have well deserved:
As they to others done, let them be served.

As they took no heed to thy works of power,
Destroy thou theirs, nor let them builded be.
But me thou hast heard in a happy hour.
My strength, my shield, my songs shall be of thee:
Thou art my hope, of saving health the giver:
Bless, Lord, thy people; rule them, Lord, forever.
